4th of July

This was a full day!  After getting ready for the day we started by going to the 1st and 2nd Wards' breakfast.  It was so great talking to those who had helped out in the kitchen.  Two less actives returning to activity, two converts of a couple of months, and an investigator who has a baptismal date for later this month.  They were so happy to be helping out.  One of the men told us he wanted to go out with the missionaries because they had spent so much time with him he wanted to give back.
The Senior Couples all got together at the mission home to welcome the Coles who began their mission here on July 1.  President did ribs and we provided corn on the cob.  The others did watermelon, rolls, pasta salad, baked beans, and dessert.  It was delicious.
After lunch we did a get acquainted activity.  Each one took a spoon full of M & M Peanuts.  I had written down questions associated with the 6 colors of candy.  It was fun to go around the circle and hear what they had to say.
Yellow - What were you doing before this mission?
Orange - Something you do well.
Blue - Something you can't live without.
Brown - What is your favorite date?
Red - Favorite family tradition.
Green - Something about your childhood.
Some of them had to leave but a few of us wanted to see the Hardy's son on TV run the steeple chase to qualify for the Olympics.  We were only able to get it on Dell's IPad.

We found out today that my brother-in-law, Richard Grider, passed away this morning.  That was emotional but then realizing he's in a better place, helped.  I am sure my mother was one of the first in line to hug him.  She loved him so much.
We were invited by the Joneses to watch the fireworks with them at the college.  The Iversons, Floyds, Clarks (new stake president), and us met at the Institute and walked over.  It was really good to be around people this evening.
